Jake Paul announced today that he’s set to make his MMA debut in 2023, and he’ll be pioneering a “Super Fight” division.
The info on the new division is still very vague, but one thing we do know is that at least 50% of the generated PPV revenue from the “Super Fight” division goes to the fighters.
This is a huge risk for Jake Paul as he has a very mixed review in the MMA community, mostly stemmed from his advocating for better fighter pay and a MMA fighters union. You don’t hear many fighters complaining about Jake Paul fighter pay, mostly commending him!
But where he loses people, is when he actually fights. Though Jake Paul is a talented young Boxer his list of beloved retired MMA fighters he’s fought is where a lot the hate stems from.
- Ben Askren (First Round KO)
- Tyron Woodley X2 (SD/ Round 6 KO)
- Anderson Silva (Decision)
Jake has also taken shots at Conor McGregor, and many more but most recently has had a back and forth with Nate Diaz.
Today Jake has also released that’s he’s offered Nate a 2 fight Deal first they box, then 6 months later they have a bout in the octagon, a real MMA match.
The risk/reward for this is not in Jakes favour, he could keep doing what he’s doing and continue to make MILLIONS of dollars, but he has chosen this route. You have to respect it.
What people aren’t talking about is the Paul family are freak athletes, since before fame, there’s a video I’ll link below of Jakes brother(Logan) rolling with UFC middleweight Paulo Costa
The brothers grew up in Ohio wrestling, but later quit to do Social media, there’s years of training that’s was missed by doing this, but you can go back over a year ago and see Jake started training MMA, Logan has taken the WWE route and has had amazing success and has looked incredible. Not comparing MMA to WWE.
So with Jake starting his training in early 2022, and let’s say he fights MMA mid to late 2023 that’s almost 2 years of catch up training Jake has gone through and you know he’s got the top of the Line guy’s training him, let’s hope it translates.
