Saturday, January 14th the UFC is back with a fight night.
Heading the card is the long time UFC veteran Kelvin Gastelum who will be taking on Nassourdine Imavov who’s had success since joining the UFC(4-1) in 2020
Kelvin, who hasn’t competed since his UD loss to Jarred Cannonier in August of 21’
Kelvins lost his last 2, one being Jared, other being Robert Whittaker, nobody wants to look at there record and see 3 straight losses so I’m sure Kelvins coming out with a vengeance, but he needs to remember there’s a tough guy he’s matched up against, in Nassourdine.
Dan Ige and Damon Jackson are the co-mains. Dan Ige is hunting for a win going 0-3 from June 21’ to now, his last win was in March of 21’ where he knocked Gavin Tucker cold in just 22 seconds.
Damon Jackson is currently on a 4 fight win streak and is trying to break into that top 15. MMA math Damon Jackson should just walk through Dan, but that’s what amazing about this sport, MMA math don’t always add up.
Next up we’ll talk about the only women’s fight on the main card Ketlen Vieira vs. Raquel Pennington
Vieira, who’s been hot, is one maybe two fights away from fighting for that belt, and I’ll be honest, I think she dose it, I believe she makes it to the title shot. Pennington is a incredible mixed martial artist but I don’t a way for her to win this weekend, I think Vieira is just better.
Cracking the main card off is Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Raoni Barcelos just looking at the two names fighting not knowing a thing about there fight style you’d say Nurmagomedov will win, being Khabib’s cousin but not entirely, people thought the same thing when Raoni fought Said Nurmagomedov that’s what the narrative was, and Raoni pulled out the UD win back in 2019
I think age is gonna be a major factor in this fight Umar being 26 and Raoni 35, Umar who’s a wrestler heavy fighter, that takes a lot of energy out of you and your opponent, I think towards the second round Raoni fades out and either gets tapped out Umar gets the decision.
There’s also a lot of interesting names on the prelims as well.
- Claudio Ribeiro
- Nick Fiore
- Mateusz Rebecki
- Javid Basharat
- Mateus Mendonca
- Carlos Hernandez
- Isaac Dulgarian
- Dan Argueta
- Priscila Cachoeira
Not a super stacked card for the casual fan, but for a hardcore fan this is their bread and butter, and your in for a good night.
