Sean Strickland to replace Kelvin Gastleum

Kelvin Gastleum was supposed to headline the first fight night of the year vs Nassourdine Imavov

News broke today that Kelvin sustained a unspecified injury, later Kelvin posted a picture, missing some teeth, he explains he took a heavy knee to the face during sparing causing significant damage to kelvins mouth and chin, causing him to pull from the fight.

No time after it was reported that Sean Strickland was set to step in for Gastelum, Imavov and Strickland who are both middleweights, have agreed to have this fight at light heavyweight, so Sean can make weight.

This new main event is more interesting I believe. Kelvins a great fighter, but Sean is always entertaining and is coming off a headliner vs Jared Cannonier on December 17th, losing a very close split decision.

Sean’s going back to back on fight cards, finishing the year with the last main event of 2022, and headlining the first event of 2023.

Regardless on how this fight plays out. Hats off too both fighters for making this fight happen for everyone.
